Career2026Honest

Is digital marketing still a good career in 2026

Short answer: yes, but not the version of it people were sold five years ago. The half of the job that AI does now is the half most courses still teach.

What AI actually removed

The routine production work.

Drafting basic copy, producing creative variations, first pass keyword research, routine reporting and simple audience work are largely automated now. Anyone whose value was doing those things by hand has had a difficult two years, and pretending otherwise does nobody any favours.

What did not go away is judgement. Deciding what to test, reading whether a number is real or noise, understanding why an audience does not convert, and knowing what to do when a campaign stalls. AI accelerates execution and is useless at deciding what deserves executing.

Who does well in this work

Three traits that predict it better than any degree.

Comfortable being measured

Your work has a number attached to it every day. Some people find that motivating and some find it unbearable. Know which you are before you commit.

Curious about why

The good ones ask why the number moved instead of accepting that it did. That instinct cannot be taught in a month, but it can be sharpened.

Willing to keep learning

Platforms change every quarter. Anyone hoping to learn a skill once and coast on it for a decade should choose a different field.

Who should not do it

Worth saying out loud.

If you want predictable, unmeasured work, this is the wrong field. If you dislike numbers, the paid media half will be miserable. If you expect a certificate to produce a job without you building anything, you will be disappointed, and not only by us.

We would rather tell you this before you pay than after. It is also why we make people run real campaigns during the course. Four weeks in, you will know whether this suits you, which is worth knowing early.
